Sitter Share
What is Sitter Share?
Essentially, a sitter co-op. Band together with neighbors and split the bill for a sitter. For the safety of our sitters, we require all participating families to be SitterTree verified members and to have an active Sitter Pass.
A few additional notes:
- Sitter Sharing is limited to four children per sitter.
- Sitter Share families are responsible for reimbursing each other.
- ALL participating families must have an active Sitter Pass ($30/mo).
How do we get started with a Sitter Share?
- Find a group of trusted friends who live nearby.
- Have your friends sign up and purchase a monthly Sitter Pass.
- Post jobs by family according to the home location the sitter will work from.
How do we pay for Sitter Share?
ALL participating families must have a Sitter Pass subscription ($30/mo).
Sitters' wages are paid through the SitterTree app at the end of each day. It Is up to participating Sitter Share families to reimburse one another.
Is a Sitter Sharing tax deductible?
While we do not offer specific tax advice, paying for child care while you work is generally accepted as a tax deduction. Please consult a tax professional.
Also, many FSA programs offer tax-free childcare reimbursements. Again, consult with a tax professional.
Is there a limit to the number of children per each sitter?
For safety purposes, SitterTree sitters can care for up to four children over the age of one. Any additional children require an additional sitter—no exceptions.
Can we book the same sitter for every job?
Consistency is our #1 goal. However, sitter schedules change due to class/exam schedules, extracurricular activities, other jobs. To increase your likelihood of booking a consistent sitter:
- Be kind. Our sitters say “kindness” is the thing they value most.
- Review sitters and select Favorites. Favorite sitters are notified first for every job.
- "Share" your Favorite sitter from within the app with families in your Sitter Share group.
- Post jobs in advance.
- Set competitive hourly rates.
How far in advance should we book a sitter?
Finding the right fit for multiple families takes time. We recommend posting jobs 1-2 weeks in advance to give applicants plenty of time to apply and adjust their schedules for your job.
Can we meet our sitter in advance?
Due to COVID-19, we encourage families to schedule a phone interview within 24 hours after selecting their sitter. Families may own schedule phone interviews once they have selected a sitter for at least one day. We recognize it is essential for each family to be comfortable with their sitter; we also want to respect our sitters’ time.
Does SitterTree guarantee all of our job postings will be filled?
While SitterTree fills more than 99% of job postings, we cannot guarantee sitters will apply to your job. Sitter applications depend on sitter schedules, hourly rate, and location for each job.
What is SitterTree Support?
SitterTree Support is a team of coordinators available to assist all members with questions regarding bookings, cancellations, and membership. SitterTree Support is available seven days per week.
Are we required to provide meals for our sitter?
While our college sitters always appreciate a good meal, we only ask you to communicate with your sitter in advance if she will be at your home during mealtime. You may use the job notes or confirm prior to the job.
